FRANCE / TALENT RESIDENCE PERMIT
The French Talent residence permit is designed for non-EU nationals whose professional activity, qualifications, investment, research, artistic work or economic project contributes to France’s attractiveness. It may apply to several categories of applicants, including qualified employees, European Blue Card applicants, researchers, company founders, innovative project holders, investors, corporate officers, artists and internationally recognized professionals.
Eligibility criteria
Each Talent category has its own legal requirements. Some categories are based on salary thresholds, while others depend on the nature of the project, the level of investment, the applicant’s qualifications, a hosting agreement, the role within a company or the applicant’s professional reputation.
Application process
Applicants residing outside France generally start the process through a long-stay visa application with the competent French consulate. Where the intended stay is at least one year, the applicant may then apply for a multi-year Talent residence permit. For stays of less than one year, a long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit bearing the Talent mention may be sufficient.
Post-arrival formalities
Depending on the visa and residence permit category, post-arrival steps may include online validation of the long-stay visa and/or an online residence permit application through the competent French platform.
