The long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit may be relevant for certain non-EU entrepreneurs who intend to develop a commercial, craft, industrial or liberal activity in France. Depending on the nature and duration of the project, other residence routes may also be considered, including the Talent residence permit or the residence permit for entrepreneurs and liberal professionals.
Conditions
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a serious and economically viable project, sufficient financial resources and compliance with the requirements applicable to the intended activity in France. Where the project falls within a Talent category, additional criteria may apply, including the economic interest of the project, innovation, investment or the applicant’s role in the company.
Renewal or change of status
Before expiry of the visa or residence permit, the applicant should review the appropriate renewal or change-of-status route and file the application through the competent French procedure, which is now largely handled online for many residence permit categories.
The supporting documents should be likely to demonstrate economic viability and compliance with the applicable French immigration and business requirements.
